Advice that is safe for one species can be dangerous for another. Foods,

are harmless to one animal may be toxic to another.

Where an article is about a specific species or breed, that is the only animal
it is written for.
When to contact a vet instead of reading a blog
Contact a veterinarian immediately if your pet is:
- Injured, bleeding, or in visible pain or distress
- Not eating or drinking, or vomiting repeatedly
- Struggling to breathe, collapsing, or unresponsive
- Suspected of having eaten something toxic
- Showing a sudden, unexplained change in behavior
Some species — including birds, reptiles, and small mammals — hide illness
until it is advanced. By the time symptoms are obvious, the situation may
already be urgent. If something seems wrong, do not wait to see whether it
passes.
A sudden behavior change is often a medical problem rather than a training
problem. Rule out pain and illness first.
Behavior and training information
Behavior advice on this site is general. Every animal differs in species,
breed, history, temperament, health, and environment. A method that works well
for one pet may be ineffective or unsuitable for another.
For aggression, severe anxiety, resource guarding, or any behavior that could
result in injury to a person or another animal, work with a qualified
professional in person. Do not rely on an article.
You are responsible for your pet's safety and for the safety of the people and
animals around your pet.
Housing, diet, and environment
Enclosure sizes, temperatures, humidity, lighting, substrate, and diet
requirements vary enormously between species and are frequently misreported
online. Treat anything you read here as a starting point, and confirm it
against a veterinarian or a species-specific specialist before applying it to
an animal in your care.
